Management Systems and Tools
To manage the business in a sustainable way, several management systems and tools are used.
EHS management system
Sapa believe in EHS excellence and the Group has a strong commitment to continuous improvement within environment, health and safety. EHS plans are developed annually describing environmental, health and safety goals and objectives. These will assist the business areas in achieving the Sapa Group EHS Policy. The EHS plans are reviewed yearly in the regular operating plan review process. Quarterly progress reviews are also in place.
An EHS management system is used at all locations, comprising the EHS plans, standards, procedures, education and training. EHS activities are built upon the deployment of the Sapa EHS management system, with focussed corporate initiatives aimed at raising knowledge and skill levels, particularly in relation to risk assessment, ergonomics, behavioural safety, waste reduction and energy efficiency.
Organization and management
Sapa has an integrated approach to EHS, where all locations are responsible for putting the governing framework into practice. Management at Sapa is responsible for initiating, planning and carrying out EHS activities as part of the company's normal operations. Each Business Area President is responsible for developing an annual EHS plan. The EHS Director assists in this work, and is responsible for planning, implementing and reporting on environment, health and safety on group level. At factory level, EHS Officers assist the plant management in day-to-day work. Since 2003, environment, health and safety is on the agenda of Sapa's Board of Directors.
